Welcome! This is a project site dedicated to Côte d'Ivoire, its culture, and more specifically to the issue of HIV/AIDS within the country. Since the beginning of the epidemic, Côte d'Ivoire has had the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in West Africa. As a result, programs have been instituted around the country to help raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and its prevention. This site is dedicated to the analysis of one of these campaigns. |

The campaign was a televised soap opera, "SIDA Dans la Cite" (AIDS in the City) that was shown throughout the country for two seasons. The case study is a smaller part of a larger social marketing campaign for Prudence condoms and the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The show began in 1995 for the first season and then 1996-7 for the second season and was broadcast throughout the country, the case study focuses on the second season. The study of the show's success was conducted in three locales: Abidijan, Benoupe, and NDouci. |
